Inflight Publishing (NZ)
Recognising a gap in the market for passengers of Interislander Ferries and Tranz Scenic Trains in New Zealand, Inflight Publishing (NZ) was born in 2009 with a mission to entertain and inform readers on things to do and see in the surrounding areas. Publishing the first of our magazines in December that year, Onboard and Our New Zealand was an instant hit with travellers.
Today, Inflight Publishing (NZ) employs a dedicated sales manager, an experienced journalist/editor and innovative graphic artist.
With regular features on areas such as Wellington, Nelson Tasman, Marlborough, the West Coast and Fiordland, among many more, the magazines also feature fun puzzles, exciting recipes and entertaining interviews.
Our Sister Company
Inflight Publishing (NZ) has a sister company in Australia - Inflight Publishing Pty Ltd. This company started in Queensland's outback.
Whilst attending a mining expo in the township of Mount Isa, Patrick McElligot met the owner of a small regional airline. Back then, the airline only flew a few miners on fly-in and fly-out basis and consumer passengers from Brisbane to Cloncurry, Mount Isa and onto Townsville. The idea was raised of an onboard magazine and the first issue of Inflight Magazine MacAir airlines was produced in November 1999.
Inflight Publishing has grown considerably since then. The magazine, produced as a quarterly production, went to an informative and entertaining bi-monthly magazine. This was specifically to cater for the growth of MacAir passengers, as the airline merged with Transtate and Jetcraft airlines out of Cairns.
Expansion of the company continued with publishing an inflight magazine for other regional airlines throughout Australia. These included Regional Link Airlines, Northern Territory; Skippers Airlines, Western Australia; Tasair Airlines, Tasmania; Sharp Airlines, Victoria; Brindabella and Aeropelican Airlines, New South Wales.
In 2008, Airport Magazine was born. This new branch of magazines is available in Australian airport arrival and departures lounges, free of charge to airport visitors. Airport magazines include Townsville Airport Magazine, Mount Isa Airport Magazine, Newcastle Airport Magazine and Coffs Harbour Airport Magazine.
Another new development came about for the company in 2011 with the creation of Mining Life & Living, a lifestyle magazine catering to employees of the mining industry and delivered direct to mine sites.
