Spring In Hawke’s Bay

Spring is a beautiful time to discover Havelock North, a charming village surrounded by vineyards, orchards, rolling countryside and the  dramatic Te Mata Peak. With its relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and wine, and easy access to outdoor adventures, it makes an ideal base  for exploring Hawke’s Bay.

The village is packed with cafés, boutique shops, galleries and restaurants, making it easy to spend a leisurely morning browsing and  enjoying  local flavours. Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its fresh produce, and spring is a great time to sample seasonal ingredients at local  eateries, markets and farm gates.

Wine lovers are spoilt for choice, with many renowned wineries and cellar doors just a short drive or cycle from Havelock North. The  vineyards are particularly attractive in spring as new growth appears on the vines and the surrounding countryside bursts into colour. A  highlight is Te Mata Peak, where walking and cycling tracks lead through beautiful countryside to spectacular views across the Heretaunga  Plains and Hawke’s Bay. For something more relaxed, Keirunga Gardens offers peaceful gardens, mature trees and historic buildings to  explore.

For a special rural escape, Arapata Lodge provides a tranquil setting surrounded by the beauty of Hawke’s Bay. It is an ideal place to unwind  and enjoy the countryside while remaining within easy reach of Havelock North, local wineries and the region’s attractions. The Hawke’s Bay  Trails are another great way to experience the area, linking vineyards, orchards, countryside and coastal landscapes. With many easy and  scenic sections, they are perfect for exploring by bike or on foot.
