Wine Time

Spring Vines and Fine Wines

Spring is a beautiful time to explore Marlborough’s famous wine country, as the vineyards burst into fresh green growth and the region’s  cellar doors welcome visitors for tastings. With longer days and a little more space to explore than the busy summer months, it’s the perfect  season to slow down and savour the flavours of the region.

Marlborough is internationally renowned for its Sauvignon Blanc,  but there’s much more to discover. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris  and aromatic varieties all feature across the region’s wineries, with each cellar door offering its own take on Marlborough’s distinctive wines.

The best way to experience the region is at your own pace. Follow the vineyard roads by car, join a guided wine tour or explore by bicycle,  stopping along the way for tastings, vineyard views and a relaxed lunch. Many cellar doors combine wine with local produce, making it easy  to turn a few tastings into a leisurely afternoon. Spring also offers a chance to see the vineyards at a particularly vibrant time of year, with  vines beginning their new growth against a backdrop of mountains and wide-open skies. Add in Marlborough’s excellent restaurants, local  produce and easy-going atmosphere, and there’s plenty to tempt wine lovers back for another visit. Whether you’re a dedicated wine  enthusiast or simply enjoy discovering beautiful places with something delicious in your glass, spring is a fresh and flavoursome time to  experience Marlborough wine country.
